Care Ministry

GriefShare

People who are experiencing mourning, sorrow, and grief due to the death of a person close to them needs tools to help them find their way back to their less painful life.  GriefShare might be just what you need. Our group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and have successfully rebuilt their lives. We understand how you feel because we’ve been in the same place. We will walk with you on the long path through grief and toward healing and hope for the future.

Gloria de Cristo has a Group that is now meeting at 12:00 pm every Sunday morning in the Fellowship Classroom of our facilities. You’ll find it to be a warm, caring environment and will come to see your group as an “oasis” on your long journey through grief. You are welcome to attend at any point. Each session is ‘self-contained’, so you do not have to attend in sequence.

Everyone is welcome. You simply just need to come to the classes. We encourage you to stay for at least three of them so that you can make a reasonable decision as to whether this is of benefit to you.

Stephen Ministry

Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2

Stephen Ministry is one child of God, walking beside another child of God who is hurting. Someone who can just listen and not make decisions for you, pray with you, encourage you and walk alongside you in difficult times. This is a free, confidential program between two people.

Stephen Ministers have completed 50 hours of training and are assigned by the pastor to be a caregiver to an individual that is going through a crisis. Male to Male/Female to Female. They meet with their care receiver for one hour each week at a designated place where the care receiver is comfortable. As the care receiver is feeling more comfortable dealing with their particular situation the caregiver will withdraw. This is also open to anyone in need. They do not need to be a member of the congregation to get a Stephen Minister. If you or someone you know needs this ministry, contact the office.

Gloria de Cristo has a great number of members that have taken the course and are Stephen Ministers. Stephen Ministers hold a meeting once each month with the Pastor to share any issues that need taken care of.

Sacramentarians

Sacramentarians are trained volunteers that participate in worship on Sunday morning and then take and distribute communion to those that are shut-ins and have no way to get to worship.

The office tracks those that have a need for this service; either through a friend sharing that they cannot get to worship or through visits from the Pastor.

They not only take and distribute communion, but they also spend a bit of time visiting with the person, who probably hasn’t talked with anyone for a while.

This is also open to anyone. We just need their name and where they are located.
