Committees & Opportunities
Our Committees
Even though we have staff to help with the day-to-day operations, we have numerous committees that have taken on responsibilities to ensure this congregation thrives. God has given each of us time and abilities for us to use doing his work. Where can you best use some of your time and abilities? Every year we ask the congregation to consider and fill out an OPPORTUNITIES FOR SERVICE questionnaire. To get involved please contact the office for the chairperson’s contact information.
Health and Wellness Committee
Committee members do not take on the roles of health professionals, such as psychologists, psychiatrists, and therapists. Rather, they provide information in monthly Evangel newsletters and speakers and programs relating to health and wellness.
Worship Committee
Committee members are responsible for preparing the communion elements and maintaining the altar and sanctuary. This committee is also responsible for assigning readers, greeters, and ushers for weekly services.
Fellowship Committee
Committee members coordinate the coffee hour on Sunday morning and other social events – potlucks, funerals, bazaar, and Lenten soup suppers, to name a few.
Education and Youth
Committee members develop programs and activities for families – Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Adult Vacation Bible School and Adult Studies.
Social Concerns
Committee members cooperate with other church and civic services and agencies through programs such as: Food collection Sunday, ELCA Good Gifts, Assisted Living visitation/activities to name a few.
Outreach
Committee members take advantage of opportunities to participate in community/city events to make our presence known. For example: Welcome Back Bash and Road Clean-up.
Property
Committee members are responsible for the care and management of all property at Gloria de Cristo. This includes maintenance, repairs, upkeep and replacement of equipment, the Columbarium, and playground.
Stewardship
Committee members will broaden the understanding of stewardship to include the use of time and ability. Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for counting of weekly collection money.
